Hawaii Speed and Quickness Mel deLaura instructing youth

Our mission is to provide any child with access to exceptional sports training and mentoring to maximize personal success and healthy living in life regardless of geographic, financial, or demographic circumstance.

Hawaii Speed and Quickness is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been serving Hawaii’s youth and families since 2000.  The clinics were first established in order to instruct Hawaii youths looking to gain a competitive edge through innovative and state-of-the-art training techniques designed to improve an athlete’s speed, quickness, agility and balance. The company has since expanded to include an array of services targeting at-risk youth and disadvantaged communities. HSQ’s services have included recreational programming; speed and agility clinics; evening school based clinics for parents, coaches and community members; group mentoring with University of Hawaii student-athletes at schools and clinics; weekend and after school programming and the creation and implementation of a drug prevention campaign that visits elementary schools with student-athletes.

We continue to strive to make our programs better and reach more of Hawaii’s youth and families.  Ultimately, our vision is to foster healthy communities where active, drug-free lifestyles are a mainstay.

Our Mission:

To provide any child access to exceptional sports training and mentoring to maximize personal success and healthy living in life regardless of geographic, financial, or demographic circumstance.
To achieve our mission, Hawaii Speed and Quickness, Refuse to Use and Refuse to Lose Program will use athletics, mentoring and proven curriculum as an effective tool in substance use prevention and intervention for youth and families.

Hawaii Speed and Quickness Dave Shoji

University of Hawaii Head Women’s Volleyball Coach

"Speed and agility are crucial to the success of an athlete at any level. Having skill in your sport is important, but without a solid base of quickness and agility, you cannot reach your potential as an athlete. My team trains with these methods on a weekly basis and we owe much of our success to what we do off the volleyball court and in the weight room and gym."

Hawaii Speed and Quickness Greg McMackin

University of Hawaii Head Football Coach

"Drills that focus on speed and agility are helpful in allowing each member of a team to develop to their maximum potential. These drills are effective because they allow each member of the team to be in great playing conditioning and to improve week by week. They also help athletes to better execute during games and build their confidence."

Hawaii Speed and Quickness Josh Fouts

University of Hawaii Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

"At the division one level, the soccer players who excel are the ones who are constantly working to improve their speed, quickness, agility, and skills.  If a player only works on their skills and neglects these other areas they will be unable to compete at the highest level in our sport.  I constantly tell our players at the University of Hawai'i that everyone is good in college soccer, but the players who find the most success are the ones who are relentless on improving their speed, quickness, agility, and skills."

Parents of Evan

“Our son, Evan, attends Hawaii Speed and Quickness regularly. He enjoys doing the variety of drills and techniques.  No session is exactly the same, there is always something new or different for the participants to learn. The athletes/instructors seem to be selected for their ability to teach and interact in a supportive manner, with positive feedback. Whether you’re an athlete with aspirations of a college career, or just trying to learn to develop speed and agility, the staff has the experience of reaching the highest competitive levels themselves, and is extremely accessible to help you reach any goal that you’ve set for yourself, on or off the field/court.  Our son is one of the youngest participants, and the instructors in his age group are, simply put, nurturing and patient. He’s not only learned some of the latest techniques, but he’s also learned what it means to be a part of a group.  The instructors have taught him lessons that will help him be a better person down the road. As I look around the gym, I wonder who has more fun, the kids, the instructors, or the parents! We’re extremely proud of what Evan has accomplished, and we appreciate what the entire staff at Hawaii Speed and Quickness has provided! Mahalo Nui Loa!”

“My children love Hawaii Speed and Quickness. Since attending Hawaii Speed and Quickness, my children have grown socially, emotionally and physically. They have met and are continuing to meet new friends, coaches and mentors. The coaches show and encourage the children to do their best, show that everyone is a winner, promote teamwork and boost their self esteem, confidence and worth. Hawaii Speed and Quickness has also helped my children physically. The drills they practice have made my children faster, have more agility, be less clumsy, increased their reaction time and made them healthier. They look forward to the each and every clinic.”
